The CNC-machined stars were placed on the doors as an abstract constellation in the shape of a kneeling cherubim. The stars were hand finished with silver and bronze to represent the youth and the elders of the congregation. Each star was rotated by 15 degrees to produce a feeling of motion which was meant to suggest a dynamic rather than static congregation.
