Because of the height of the Ark above the bema and the weight and placement of each Torah, it became important to build a method to quickly move each Torah to the front of the Ark. We accomplished this by pivots and slides that were hidden under the base of each pedestal. Maglocks fixed the positions of each cradle at both ends of the movement to stabilize the cradle for secure handling of the Torah. Though not in this picture, the industrial knobs on the maglocks were replaced with decorative bronze knobs.
